Unlike similar stories, no one dies in The 8 Show, and the prize money keeps increasing, even allowing participants to "earn while lying down." However, the twists and turns, driven by human greed, lead to an unexpected ending.​ While The 8 Show seems to draw inspiration from various sources—like the concept of more resources on higher floors from the Spanish thriller "The Platform" or the idea of earning rewards by pleasing an audience from the Japanese drama "Cruel Audience Show"—it still manages to create something new by combining and reinterpreting these elements. At its core, the show offers a biting commentary on social inequality. Just as in real life, where some people are born with more resources and can amass wealth effortlessly, the game in The 8 Show unfairly favours those on higher floors, establishing a class system where the lower levels are doomed to remain oppressed. Even though the game doesn’t involve killing, it still explores the dark side of human nature in a disturbingly twisted way.
